However, with the outbreak of the COVID-19, new claims for unemployment due to the coronavirus crisis totaled more than 36 million over two months alone, by far the biggest job loss in U.S. history.

A record of 20.5 million jobs were lost in April as the coronavirus-induced economic shutdown tore through the economy, sending the unemployment rate skyrocketing to 14.7%. An additional 26 million Americans are underemployed, and unbelievably 80% of workers are disengaged.
